Late Summer Wedding at Kingwood Center | Bryan & Kayla
We recently had the pleasure of photographing Bryan & Kayla’s late summer wedding at Kingwood Center Gardens in Mansfield, Ohio. If you’re looking for the most magical, fairytale-like wedding venue in between Cleveland and Columbus, look no further because Kingwood Center Gardens is it! It’s one of my absolute favorite venues, and so it should come as no surprise that I loved every single detail about Bryan & Kayla’s wedding day.
We started Bryan & Kayla’s wedding day with a ceremony at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in downtown Mansfield. Their ceremony was both beautiful and heartfelt. Following the ceremony, Kayla requested we take couple’s portraits on the front steps of the Church. I love the simplicity of the gorgeous steps and columns.
As we made our trip to Kingwood Center Gardens for the rest of the bridal portraits and reception, the sun slipped behind dark rain clouds. Fearing the worst, with a major storm front rapidly approaching the area, we decided to get as many portraits done as we could. Just as we sent the bridal party into the mansion, raindrops started falling. However, Kayla was truly hoping for an outdoor reception in the Courtyard at Kingwood Center. After some quick thinking by the venue coordinators, the decision was made to continue on with the original plans for the outdoor celebration. However, the rain did pick up, so we ran inside the mansion for shelter from the rain. What a blessing in disguise that was! We originally had no plans to take portraits inside the mansion. Luckily the rain gave us about 15 minutes to play around with some creative and dramatic portraits. They are some of my absolute favorites from the day! Even better still, the clouds quickly cleared and the rest of the day went on just as planned!
Courtyard Reception at Kingwood Center Gardens
During the reception, Kayla had a major surprise for Bryan. Not only did she make an entire surprise outfit change, she also performed a custom version of the Leonard Cohen classic, “Hallelujah”. It was an amazing performance, one she planned just 48 hours before the big day. The lyrics, which she changed to tell their love story, left everyone in awe of the talent Kayla possesses. Wow! There were few dry eyes after that!
Bryan and Kayla, we absolutely loved spending your wedding day with you and your closest family and friends. We hope you love this quick preview of some of our favorites.
