Maddie & Issaic’s Spring Wedding at The Village Barn | Monroeville, Ohio
Wedding season is in full swing! And we started it off with quite a bang. Literally. In the days leading up to Issaic and Maddie’s wedding at The Village Barn, the forecast got worse and worse. On the Friday before the big day, my weather app called for 90% chance of rain, hail, potential for flash flooding, and high winds. It literally told me to have a plan to shelter in place. Oh boy! Not exactly what you want to read less than 24 hours before your bride’s outdoor wedding ceremony.
As you would expect, last-minute changes moved the ceremony inside. Honestly, we really lucked out as The Village Barn also offers a second hall, known as The Knight’s Hall, and we were able to pull the whole day off, inside – at one location, without a hitch! And, to our surprise, the weather waited for us to get all the outdoor portraits in before the skies opened up. And boy did they! It was almost chilling the way the thunder broke through the silent reception barn as the officiant was giving the dinner blessing. In an instant, outside became a monsoon. We really couldn’t have gotten any luckier!
What happens if it rains on my wedding day?
A lot of brides stress about the weather when planning for an outdoor ceremony and/or reception. Let me be the first to tell you, I totally understand. You see, Craig and I got married in late May and the forecast was nearly the same. Our anniversary is just the day after Issaic and Maddie’s. It was such a stressful week. I constantly pulled up the weather. I made frantic calls and texted friends and family non-stop. Should we move everything?! Should we try to get a tent within 48 hours?! How would we pull this off? I really felt like all my plans were going to be ruined. But, I learned on that day, 12 years ago almost to the day, you shouldn’t let the weather ruin your big day.
Weddings are so much more than the beautiful details, the timelines, and the photos. The most important part is that you’re marrying the love of your life. That can still happen, even if there is a tornado watch in effect. Ok, but seriously, what about all your plans? What about all the photos you dreamed of? All isn’t lost! I promise! We have photographed well over 100 weddings. Let me tell you, not once has it rained the entire day. In fact, the sun usually pops out at one point. And that’s all we need to create beautiful, lasting portraits. Give me 15-20 minutes and we can still create the vision you’ve had for your wedding!
Back to Issaic & Maddie. The rain held off, the photos were amazing, the reception was so much fun. It all turned out perfectly. So, enjoy some of my favorites from Issaic & Maddie’s wedding at The Village Barn!
